Black cardamom, much larger than its smaller counterpart, comes in various species with pods ranging from 2 cm to over 5 cm in size. Its flavor, aroma, and characteristics differ significantly from those of small cardamom. Black cardamom possesses a uniquely astringent aroma, reminiscent of mint's coolness, without bitterness.
